Lot 3011 RECREATION OF ENGRAVED NEW HAVEN ARMS VOLCANIC

CARBINE. Cal 41. S# 18. Original examples were manufactured in 1857, this facsimile made by unknown craftsman in standard configuration of original, 21" octagonal barrel, full length loading tube, "NEW HAVEN CONN PATENT FEB 14 1854" stamped on top flat, adjustable receiver sight, German silver blade front sight. Silver plated engraved brass frame and butt plate, walnut butt stock. This rifle was meant to fool someone, very well done, S# 18 found on lever, lower tang of frame, buttplate and stock. Matching assembly numbers on sliding sleeve & barrel. CONDITION: very good to fine overall as made, barrel and magazine retain 90% plus blue finish, frame is engraved in factory style and retains most all silver plated finish, mechanically set trigger is touchy and hard to get hammer to hold, magazine follower tab and spring are missing broken, dark rifled bore.
